Vera Zegerman (The Hague, Netherlands) studied in 1995-1997 in Leiden the technical aspects of working with ceramic materials. She developed her own style since. From 2004 till 2008 she worked at the Vrije Academie in The Hague.

Organic, natural shapes, like fossils mostly inspire Vera Zegerman. She examines often contrasts in her work such as smooth and rough. Her preference for bright colours expresses itself in the colourful ornaments of glazes on many of her works. All objects are hand-formed and unique.

She has chosen to work with clay while she can make almost every form with it. After all clay is particular good to form and when you work with it, it is soft. Afterwards it is great to see the process of a hand-formed object that through heath becomes to stone in a final form. Her sculptures could be seen as new forms of live.
